Notes on Psalm 62
(Psa 62:1)
To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. How true this is. Our salvation comes from God. How we need Him folks.
(Psa 62:2)
He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. He alone is our salvation. Armies, navies, horses, weapons, men, women, friends, money, possessions etc., cannot buy our salvation.
(Psa 62:3)
How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. Those that persecute the innocent shall not go unpunished. He that lives by the sword shall die by the sword.
(Psa 62:4)
They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. We see today those that desire to silence God. They make light of or ignore the word. They call it a book of myths and instead believe the myth of evolution which has no true scientific facts to back up that theory. They reject any possible explanation other than evolution. A true scientist would examine both. If we seek to explain away the existence of God, we will find it because the devil will make sure we discover lies and will be deceived. Those that forsake God sooner or later begin to delight in lies.
(Psa 62:5)
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.For those that trust the Lord and look to Him for salvation will receive the reward of eternal life. A huge price was paid for our salvation through the death of Jesus Christ and all those that believe confessing their sins will be saved.
(Psa 62:9)
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. All in this life is vain without the salvation of the Lord.
(Psa 62:10)
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.If God allows us to increase in wealth, we must be very careful not to set our heart upon them.
Mat 19:23
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.Jesus taught the exact opposite of today's prosperity gospel. Do not be caught up in it. You can't tell me that missionaries who forsake all to spread the gospel in places where their lives are in danger, are out of the will of God or lack faith because they are not rich and are not driving around fancy cars, jewels and live in mansions. That is one of the most ungodly doctrines in modern times. I will not even give to a ministry that teaches such nonsense.
(Psa 62:11)
God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.Do all according to the glory of God. If God does allow you to prosper, use it for the glory of God and be thankful. If you are poor be thankful for all that you have. God loves both alike.
