Notes on Psalm 69

(Psa 69:1) To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
(Psa 69:2)
I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
(Psa 69:3)
I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
(Psa 69:4)
They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
(Psa 69:5)
O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

Sin is sin of course but there is a difference between those that sin and immediately regret it and repent than those that excuse themselves and do not acknowledge that they have sinned. There are those also that sin and don't care whether they offend God or go against His word. David sinned at times but was always willing to change if he discovered that he sinned against God. David love God's word. The Psalms are full of David's love for the commandments and statutes of God. This must be our attitude. If we sin and don't care whether we have broken the word of God, that is a dangerous place to be in. This is why you will see a world full of people who make mistakes and sin but some repent and are saved while others reject the commandment of God to repent and go on into eternity without God and lost forever in a burning hell.

Notice that those that hate the followers of righteousness are those that never repent. Our enemies are those that oppose godliness and right living. We cannot possibly please both God and men. They are different as night and day.

(Psa 69:6) Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
(Psa 69:7)
Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

If we decide to take our stand on righteousness, we will bear reproach. There are those right now being persecuted because of their stand for the word of God. Look for the word of God, the bible to be banned in the future. In Sweden a pastor has been sentenced for warning homosexuals that they need to repent and turn to God. Sweden is trying to silence his cries to those that are lost. Homosexuality is a sin just like adultery is a sin. Those that do those things can be saved and changed but they can't unless they see themselves as sinners in need of a savior. This is the difference between salvation and being lost. Repentance. Repent means to be sorry for and be willing to change. It means that we recognize that God has a law and we have broken that law. It means that we love God and desire Him to give us His holy Spirit. To receive the Holy Spirit one must first come to the knowledge that God sent His own Son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins. We then believe that Jesus will take away and save us from all sin. We repent and turn from sin and turn to Jesus Christ. God then gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit and the promise of eternal life.

If we try to receive Jesus Christ without accepting the commandments of God or acknowledging that we need to repent of sin, the sin will remain and we will be lost. This doesn't mean that we will never sin again. It means that we hate our sin and do not want to return to sin but live for God. Temptations will come but now we have the power to resist temptation and live for God. If we do sin, we can repent right away and trust God to take the sin away and give us power over it. So whether the sin is homosexuality or another sin, we can repent and change.

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If a pastor is jailed for warning the homosexual that he is living in sin and need a savior, those that persecute the pastor are trying to destroy the homosexual in a burning hell forever. The ones that are the hate mongers are the ones that tell the homosexual that he is okay the way he is and can't change. You are dooming their souls forever with no chance to repent. In order to repent, one must acknowledge their sin and be willing to change by the power of God. So who are the real hate mongers here???

(Psa 69:8) I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.
(Psa 69:9)
For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

Those that persecute those that preach godliness, are deceived and deceivers.  Do not listen to them for they are blind and call evil good and good evil.  Right now they call Ake Green evil even though he is really good.  They do not know that Satan is using them to shut up the truth from people so that they can be saved.  Satan does not want this message to get out.  He wants us to believe those that tell us sin is okay and we can't help the way we are.  Of course we can't help it.  That is why God sent Jesus Christ so that we can have help.  We must accept God's deliverance and turn from our sin though or else we cannot be saved.

If one stands for the word of God and does not back down, sometimes even his or her own family will turn against them.

Mat 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
Mat 10:37
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

We may have to choose one or the other. If we choose our friends and family both we and they will be lost forever. If we choose Christ, they may forsake us now but they may accept Christ themselves later.

2Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
2Timothy 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

(Psa 69:10) When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
(Psa 69:11)
I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
(Psa 69:12)
They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

Ake Green of Sweden is being mocked, threatened and persecuted for standing up for God's word. I wouldn't be surprised if became a song of the drunkards. Some of us though are praying for him and supporting him by standing by God's word ourselves.

(Psa 69:13) But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
(Psa 69:14)
Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
(Psa 69:15)
Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
(Psa 69:16)
Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
(Psa 69:17)
And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.
(Psa 69:18)
Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.
(Psa 69:19)
Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
(Psa 69:20)
Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
(Psa 69:21)
They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

We recognize this as the prophecy of the sufferings of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. This happened to Him literally on the cross when they offered Him vinegar to drink. They mocked Him, spit upon Him and made fun of Him as He suffered for the sins of all mankind.

(Psa 69:22) Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
(Psa 69:23)
Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
(Psa 69:24)
Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.
(Psa 69:25)
Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.
(Psa 69:26)
For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.
(Psa 69:27)
Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.

Those that rejected Christ later suffered vengeance for their rejection. All those that refused to repent and accept the Son of God will suffer the same fate.

(Psa 69:28) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

There is only one way to keep our names in the book of life and that is to repent and accept Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives. That is the sole reason God sent Jesus to come in the flesh and die for sins. To save all who would believe. If we reject this gift of God, there is no other way to be saved. Religion alone cannot do it, it takes the shed blood of Jesus Christ to cover sins. It only counts though for the ones who accept Him as savior. If we want to remain in our sins and reject Jesus, we will be lost forever in a burning hell. God does not want this to happen to anyone. That is why He allowed His own Son to die such a horrible death. He died in our place. We sinned. We deserve to be punished, not the Son of God. But the Son of God, Jesus Christ did it for us so that all who believe in Him can be saved.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(Psa 69:29) But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.
(Psa 69:30)
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
(Psa 69:31)
This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
(Psa 69:32)
The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
(Psa 69:33)
For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
(Psa 69:34)
Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.
(Psa 69:35)
For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
(Psa 69:36)
The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

To those that come to Jesus Christ and believe in Him, they will inherit the kingdom to come. No one that remains in sin and stays outside of Jesus Christ will enter into the city of God and inherit eternal life. Jesus Christ is returning again. The first time He came it was to die for sins, the second time He comes it will be to put down all rebellion and bring in an everlasting Kingdom which will have no sin. If we want to enter into this Kingdom we need to get rid of sin now through faith in Jesus Christ. Sin cannot enter eternity. Sin separates from God. Whether that sin is adultery, homosexuality or some other sin, it cannot enter eternity. It must stop here. If we die our natural deaths without repenting of sin and turning to Jesus to take away our sins, then we will be lost forever. This does not have to be.

Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Act 3:20
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
