WRITTEN TRUTH GIVEN SUPERNATURALLY - NOTE FIVE
... that the scripture might be fulfilled, - see John 19:23,24 - They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. Psalm 22:18 - compare John 19:23.24 - In Psalm 69:21 it is written: They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. And at the cross at Calvary the following happened: 28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that
the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. The scriptures provide an intricate pattern of truth. Just as not
"a bone" of the Passover sacrifice was to be broken (see Exodus 12:46 &
Numbers 9:12) and Psalm 34:20 says, "He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is
broken," so of the crucifixion it is written: In John 19:34 it says, "But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side " And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. - John 19:37 - Now it is probably true that some looked upon the pierced Lord Jesus at that time, but John 19:37 more speaks of the time when the Israelites will see the God the Son return in glory. You may read about it in Zechariah 12:10 and Revelation 1:7. Just as many prophetic passages have been already fulfilled, you can also be certain that the others will also according to God's plan. People's minds can be darkened (for example, see Romans 11:7,8) so that they don't comprehend the truth of God's prophetic words, the scripture of truth. In Psalm 16:10 it is written: For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell ; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. And Jesus did not remain dead, and He did not rot in the grave. You can read about Christ Jesus rising from the dead in the scriptures of truth (for example, see Luke 24:22-27; Mark 16:1-14; Matthew 28:1-10; Acts 2:25-31; Luke 24:1 -12; and Acts 13:29-37). Before the resurrection apparently people had been blind to that truth which God gave us. It is written: For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. - John 20:9 - see the whole chapter The empty tomb, the witness of the people who saw the Lord Jesus after His resurrection from the dead, the testimony of Christians down through the centuries, and the scriptures themselves shatter the pretense of unbelief of those who reject God the Son. You may reject the Rock of salvation, but: Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes? - Matthew 21:42 - See Psalm 118:22,23!
